Hi there! My new song featuring Jamie Johnson and Samson Jatto will be released on the 9th of February 2024
How the song began
Max
The song began with Max following a link to Samson’s Bandcamp on social media. He found a groove he absolutely loved and bought it for £8, what a steal! Max fell in love with the crisp drumming and wonky fills. He threw the sample into Ableton and came up with a simple rhodes and bass idea in D# minor. A few takes later and the structure was coming together. Max filmed a music video featuring this song in Ibiza which is where the final sax take was recorded!
Samson
Samson is incredibly generous with his drum loops and his bandcamp is a goldmine for any producer! The fact he has recorded the loops beautifully and mixed them so they sound crisp and phat is incredible. I would recommend buying a few of his loops over any sample library any day! The fact you are getting one of the best drummers in the country playing the parts is a massive advantage. Click the link below to learn more:
Jamie
I showed this idea to Jamie at a recording session at his place in Kent. He immediately fell in love with the chords and the floaty time feel. He instantly came up with the hook and these incredible lyrics. Jamie always astonishes me how quickly he can improvise melody and lyrical ideas. It's Over
Put all of these ingredients together and ‘It’s Over’ was born. Expect live sax, Hip Hop fills, gorgeous vocals and Slum Village esque Rhodes.
It’s Over will be released on Empowered Records on the 9th of February 2024.
